About The Author
My middle name is Capri, and I’ve always loved it more than my first name, Kaylah. To me, Capri feels more unique and special. It’s so special to me that I plan to one day use it as my pen name, when I become an author. Writing has always been my passion, the idea of creating worlds, characters, and stories has always brought me joy. My dream is to publish fantasy novels that are so deep and detailed readers can lose themselves in them. Books have always been my way of escaping reality and I hope that one day my own work can do that for someone else. Books have been a constant part of my life, shaping the way I think, sparking my imagination, and inspiring me to keep practicing the craft of storytelling.

Outside of writing, reading and anime are two of my biggest passions and hobbies. As I stated earlier reading has always been my escape especially on bad days opening a good book would always brighten my day but more than that it helps me as a writer. Every book I pick up shows me something new about world building and character development. Whether it’s an epic fantasy or romance novel I find myself learning something new. While I love anime because they take bold visual and narrative risks in ways that are unique to the anime genre. Anime I’ve watched have influenced not only how I see storytelling, but also how I imagine my own characters and plots. Between books, writing, and anime, I always feel surrounded by creativity and inspiration.

By the end of this semester, I want to explore a few big questions about media. How do creators balance doing what they want with what audiences expect, especially now that feedback is instant? How does social media change the way we experience things like books, movies, or TV? How is the line between creators and audiences shifting now that anyone can post on YouTube, TikTok, or Wattpad? And finally, what can I learn from all of this as a future writer who wants to share stories in a world that’s always online and always consuming new content? As I take this class and write this blog I hope to both learn the answers to my questions but also become a greater writer and learn to write both what people will enjoy and what they may disagree with but understand because I write in a way people understand and respect.
